Breakfast time seems to be our most crucial time waster, nobody knows what to eat and they’re just kinda of lazing around. So, let me share with you my quick & easy breakfast idea’s for back to school, (because we all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day) that has saved on time and help keep my kids full well past snack time while they’re working hard at school each day. Our solution are the El Monterey Breakfast Burrito’s.
These new El Monterey breakfast burrito’s come in three flavors – The Sausage & Egg, Bacon & Egg as well as the Jalapeno, Egg and Cheese breakfast burrito’s. The y come in individually wrapped packages so you are able to grab one, put it in the microwave and warm for about 1 minute (from frozen) and they you’re ready to serve.
I don’t know about you but when I sent my children off to school I want their belly’s full of protein to help them make it until snack time and essentially lunch time. It’s always hard for my children because they need that boost from a snack, but at school they don’t always get that and are dragging my lunch. That’s why I like to fill them up with something hearty & delicious that’s much more than just your everyday sugary breakfast cereal. These breakfast burritos are filled with protein, which is great to help them going throughout the day.
What does our morning breakfast look like? Depending on the day – and of course each child likes something different that day and how they want it prepared. If one of them chooses a breakfast burrito, they can easily prepare it themselves, or I help them. They get the flavor they want out, unwrap, put on a plate and in the microwave for a minute or so. It’s warmed up and they’re ready to eat. They can pick it up, or I cut it up depending. These are great to take on the go as well – because we all have those mornings. I serve most times with a side of fresh fruit, depending on what we have in the house. Everyone’s favorite is the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Breakfast Burrito – I thin it’s the most safe and what they’re used too. Most of them like it with some added cheese and just a tad of hot sauce added. Yum delicious!
The Bacon, Egg & Cheese is probably our least favorite, but they still eat it. Also great with a little added cheese (we love cheese here) and my husband and I always add different sauces – like ketchup or salsa. My husband enjoys the Jalapeno, Egg & Cheese the most because it has a bit of a kick to it. The kids steer away from that for the most part because they aren’t huge spice eaters. Once again though, all are easily microwaved and ready in a couple of minutes.
Even the little guy has to eat, and even on busy school mornings. Make El Monterey Breakfast Burrito’s part of your morning routine – get them full of protein for a long day and get it done quick without all the hassle of cooking.
